The elevation is 6,288 feet and finally some nice cool weather.  This park is fairly new as it opened in October 2006, it was formerly the JL Ranch and it is a 5 star park and deserves every star.   They have over 23 miles of hiking trails but only a few short trails where dogs are allowed.  The park does offer a stunning transition from the plains to its peaks.  We have a fabulous view from our site to Colorado Springs below. Up the mountain from our site is NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense).
